Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert Opens the Renovated Cotton Bowl Stadium

Fans entering Cotton Bowl Stadium will hardly recognize the place on January 2.

Last week Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert cut the ceremonial ribbon to open the revamped Cotton Bowl Stadium. City officials recently announced that the 57-million dollar facelift to the stadium was complete after almost nine months of work.

The new renovations include bowling the entire upper deck, adding 16,000 seats, and pushing the capacity to more than 92,000. Aluminum benches make up most of the new seating except for 1500 chair backs located in each new upper deck.

The locker rooms also were renovated and a media center was built directly above the tunnel that the teams use to enter the field. Inside the new end zone facility are new coaches locker rooms and a conference room that will be used for post game news conferences and private events.

In addition to adding four new main entrance gates, the lower concourse was expanded with 21 new concession stands and 1100 toilet fixtures.

This January will mark the final time that the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic will be played in Cotton Bowl Stadium. Check back soon to www.attcottonbowl.com for continued updates and behind the scenes looks throughout college football season.
