CBAA Past Chairman Inducted Into Texas Sports Hall of Fame
Cotton Bowl Athletic Association Past Chairman and Cleveland Brown great Jim Ray Smith was among eight individuals inducted today into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in Waco, Texas.
Smith, who served as CBAA Chairman from 1984-1986, was an All-American guard at Baylor in 1953 and 1954. He was selected to five Pro Bowls as starting guard for the Browns during his seven-year career in Cleveland (1956-62). Smith finished in pro career with the Dallas Cowboys from 1962-64. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1986.
Among the other inductees with Smith were former Dallas Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin, Dallas Stars center Mike Modano, former Texas Tech football coach Spike Dykes, former Houston Oilers and Texas A&M star Ray Childress, Granbury girls basketball coach Leta Andrews, former Dallas Texans running back Abner Haynes, and former women's soccer star Mia Hamm.
