AT&T COTTON BOWL OFFICIALLY RELEASES 75TH ANNIVERSARY LOGO
The 75th AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic is less than two months away, and final preparations are underway for a huge birthday celebration. As part of the planning, the Classic formally released a special 75th anniversary logo on Friday.
The commemorative logo was created by Torch Creative of Dallas to serve as the primary mark for the 2011 Classic. Leading up to the game on Friday, January 7th, the new logo will be used on all game promotional materials including the website, the game ticket and the game program.
“It isn’t easy fitting 75 years of history into a logo,” Rick Baker, Cotton Bowl Athletic Association President said. “Many things went into consideration through the design process. We were really thrilled with the final result which does a great job of commemorating the Classic’s historic past and bright future.”
Honoring the Classic’s past and home for 73 years, Cotton Bowl Stadium, the font used for the text, “Cotton Bowl”, is the same font seen on the famous façade of the historic stadium. In recognizing the AT&T Cotton Bowl’s new home at Cowboys Stadium, Torch Creative used the silhouette of the new stadium across the top of the logo.
“Being life-long residents of the DFW Metroplex, we have a deep appreciation of the tradition and excellence associated with the AT&T Cotton Bowl legacy,” Michael Thurman, co-owner of Torch Creative said. “It has been an absolute honor assisting the Cotton Bowl in the development of the 75th Anniversary logo, which we feel reflects the history and celebrates the future of the Classic.”
Founded in 2005 by Mr. Thurman and his business partner, Brad Bishop, Torch Creative is a Dallas-based Brand Identity agency which specializes in logo design. In addition to their work with the AT&T Cotton Bowl, Torch has created identity programs for numerous clients including the 2010 NBA All-Star Game, the 2011 NHL All-Star Game, the 2008-10 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs and Final, the Texas Legends as well as other professional, collegiate, corporate and municipal clients.
Merchandise for the 2011 AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic featuring the new 75th anniversary logo will soon be available on the Classic’s website, www.attcottonbowl.com. Kickoff for the 75th Classic is slated for 7 p.m. on FOX.
