Cowboys Complete First Cotton Bowl Practice in Texas
The Oklahoma State football team held its first Texas-based practice for the AT&T Cotton Bowl Friday afternoon at Euless Trinity High School. The Cowboys practiced outside in clear, brisk conditions on artificial turf while wearing helmets and pads. Coach Mike Gundy talked with Okstate.com following the workout. His comments:
Coach Mike Gundy
On how the practice went
"We had a good practice. We've got all of our players here and we worked out for about an hour and fifteen minutes and we were able to run some. It worked out good and everybody's excited about being in Dallas. The accommodations are great so we're looking forward to a good week."
On getting to spend another week with the team
"It's a special group of guys and they've had a tremendous amount of success, so we get a chance to spend another week with them here in a great location; and preparing to play against a very good Missouri team is a lot of fun for the coaching staff."
On the recruiting impact of playing in the Dallas area
"There's a lot of players here and we get a lot of good press and people know about Oklahoma State football. To be in an area that produces so many quality football players is good for the university."
On his message to the team
"We just need to get better every day in practice. We just need to have good game plans and guys have to enjoy their time here, but also have to get better each day to get ready to play in the game."
On what he's looking forward to this week
"Just a chance for all of us to spend time with our families and for these guys to be able to spend time as a group and be around some of their friends."
On his first impressions of the hotel and Cotton Bowl hospitality
"They've been tremendous, like always. The Gaylord Texan is phenomenal and our hospitality rooms and the food and everything they've provided has been top notch and first class.
