NATIONAL FOOTBALL FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2012

NATIONAL FOOTBALL FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2012

Three of the 17 Honorees Left Their Mark on the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic

ARLINGTON – Tuesday proved to be an historic day for the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic with the announcement of the Class of 2012 of the College Football Hall of Fame.

Of the 17 men recognized by the National Football Foundation, three of them have ties to the AT&T Cotton Bowl.

Former head coaches R.C. Slocum of Texas A&M, Phillip Fulmer of Tennessee, and Jimmy Johnson of Miami and Oklahoma State will be honored in December at New York’s Waldorf-Astoria.

Slocum guided Texas A&M to four appearances in the Classic, including three consecutive trips in 1992-94 and again in 1998. Fulmer guided Tennessee to the AT&T Cotton Bowl twice in 2001 and 2005.

Although Johnson will be inducted into the national Hall of Fame as a head coach, his relationship with the Classic dates back to 1965 as a defensive lineman at Arkansas when the Razorbacks defeated Nebraska to earn a piece of college football’s national championship.
